Addiction ResourceLGBTQ-friendly drug and alcohol rehab facilities are designed to help LGBTQ-identifying people by addressing their unique needs during addiction recovery treatment. Dual Diagnosis: Co-Occuring Addiction and Mental Health DisordersSubstance abuse among people with mental illness is common. The risk of developing a drug or alcohol problem varies by the type of drug, the mental disorder, and other risk factors.

People who identify as LGBTQ are at a greater risk for substance abuse and mental health issues compared to those who identify as heterosexual. However, through the proper LGBTQ-specific care that addresses and understands the unique challenges this community faces, recovery from addiction is possible.
